We survived our shopping trip to the mall. It was actually a lot better than I thought it was going to be. I think because we had 3 grown ups to handle 6 kids…2 each! Shane’s a calming presence, and the kids seem to have a bit more respect for his authority for some reason (does anyone else have that problem? One parent garnering more respect than the other?).
So armed with their birthday/allowance money that they had been saving, off we went to the mall. I think all the kids did really well.
Meri, armed with $4.50 purchased a new pair of “click clack shoes” (because they go click clack on the floor!). Zellers was having their closing sale, so with the discount and the tax, they were exactly $4.50.
Charlotte had $44.50 and came home with a Barbie, a Barbie Pool, and a My Little Pony hot air balloon (the music from it is already driving me crazy!)…Her purchase came to $38 and change. All her toys were on sale, she saved about $25 on everything.
Aaron had a whopping $89.00!! He came home with no money but he is thrilled with his purchases! He got Super Mario Power Tennis (Wii), Kirby’s Return to Dreamland (Wii), a box of Pokémon training cards, and a Pokémon Essential Handbook.
Andrew left home with $49 and came back $5.00. He got: Phineas and Ferb Across the 2nd Demension for Wii, and a Luigi action figure.
Allen got Pokémon Heart Gold game for DS, Pokémon Black and White Book and a pack of Black and White trading cards. He spent about $66 on his purchases and came back with $12.00 in his pocket.
Austan, I think, got the biggest bang for his buck. With his $49 he made some frugal purchases and I think almost everything was on sale. He purchased 2 Megablocks Halo Sets, a carrying case for DS stuff, a Hero Factory, Link’s Crossbow Training game for Wii (this was 95 CENTS! WOW), a package of styluses and a pack of Pokémon Cards. He came home with $1.54
Even us grown ups got our game on. We purchased a Just Dance game for the Wii, and Shane picked up a Star Wars Lego game for Wii. We spent $45.18.
It was a fruitful trip and paid for completely with cash! YAY us.
