How was everyone’s weekend? It was our annual girl’s weekend in Muskoka with 5 of our bestest girlfriends. Once a year we all pack up, leave our husbands and kids behind and enjoy 48 hours away from the hustle and bustle of life. Amy and I had a great time. It was the first time Amy wasn’t pregnant or had a nursing baby with her, so she was able to enjoy it more than in the past. We left right after we dropped the kids off at school on Friday morning. Amy and I hit a scrapbook store in Barrie and then met the other girls in Orillia for lunch at Kelsey’s. Then we scooted up Hwy 11, and did a bit of last minute grocery shopping in Huntsville before we arrived at our destination. Let’s just say we did a lot of drinking, eating and carrying on! We all take a meal and prepare it for the rest of the gang and the food is always so yummy.
On Saturday, Amy and I were terribly disappointed and sad to see that the scrapbook store that we visit while in Huntsville had been destroyed in a fire! There were other businesses affected too, fire has got to be one of the most devastating things. We visited a few of the little shops in town and had some ice cream at The Nutty Chocolatier.
On our way home, we stopped at Casino Rama and did a bit of gambling. I have to say, I don’t see the excitement…I guess you have to win! We had set aside $40 to gamble with, but after the first $30 was lost, we stopped. It was fun to watch our other friends play and win though. We got home at 4:15 and found out that Shane had done a lot of working clearing out a space for all the boxes for the packing that we’ve started. We had asked him if he might be able to make up a menu while we were gone and grocery shop, but he was too pooped by the end of Saturday to do that. So Amy whipped up a menu quickly and after dinner she and I went grocery shopping.
