Long time, no see…

I realized today that I hadn’t blogged in over a week!  Guess we got busy with life and all that comes with it.

We had a terrific Easter weekend.  On Saturday we packed all the kids into the 2 cars and headed east along the 401 to the Toronto Zoo.  We purchased a membership so we can go back again and again.  The good thing about a membership is that it is for the entire year, the only day it’s closed is Christmas.  They have fun activities year round for the kids.  In the summer they have a great splash pad and an interactive kids area.  The price for the membership is pretty good: 2 adults and 4 kids between 4 and 15 is $135.  Kids under 4 are free.  We had to buy a separate adult membership for Shane @ $65.  For $200 we get admission for a year for the whole family (well, except Evan, but at 17 he’s just not that into it, lol).  You can bring your own food into the park.   We figure we’ll go at least 5 or 6 times over the summer and maybe a few times during the winter, too.

Here’s the kids outside the Orangutan Pavillion:

And my favourite…the ‘phants’

After the zoo we met up with Shane’s family and had dinner at the Mandarin (yeah, yeah, I know, not good for my weight loss efforts).

Sunday was Easter, of course.  The kids had a blast all day long!  First the Easter Bunny left a bunch of goodies for all the kids, then we had an egg hunt around the house.  I made a lovely breakfast and then the kids coloured eggs.  After lunch they watched a movie and then decorated egg-shaped cupcakes for dessert.  We had a lovely ham dinner, with scalloped potatoes, cauliflower with cheese sauce, and devilled eggs made from all the dyed eggs from earlier.  We were stuffed.

Hope everyone enjoyed the holiday weekend!  What did you do on your days off (if you had them)?

  1. I love the “phants” too! Love the photo!

  2. sounds like you had a wonderful Easter. The kids look like they had a wonderful time at the zoo too. I want to take my “kids” (aka parents) to the zoo when it gets warmer. They’ll love it!

  3. We have a zoo membership and love it. We also have a membership to the local children’s museum. I love it that I don’t have to worry about us “getting our money’s worth” during each visit since we can just go back again whenever. If we stay for a half hour, it’s just fine!
